Day 1  11  February, 2009      Australia - Cairo     Overnight flight from Australia to Cairo

Day 2 12 February, 2009      Cairo   We arrive in Cairo this morning.   Accommodation:  Mena House Oberoi (or similar) Cairo 4 nights

Full day excursion to Sakkara one of the most exciting historical and archaeological areas in Egypt then Abusir, north of Sakkara; The Pyramids of Abu Sir originally consisted of fourteen pyramids from the 5th Dynasty. Only four are still standing, the Pyramid of Neferefre, where a royal group of statues of the Old Kingdom were discovered, and several portraits of king Neferefre himself. Continue to Dahshur; which is the area bordering on the necropolis of South Saqqara, where several pharaohs chose to site their pyramids; Pyramids of Snefru (Bent or Red Pyramid), Pyramid of Amenemhet III (Black Pyramid), Pyramid of Amenemhet II (White Pyramid), Pyramid of Senwosert III. Dahshur Necropolis tombs around the Pyramid of the Amenemhet III contained the burial of royal ladies, Mazghuna Pyramids.

Day 4  14 February, 2009    Cairo  (B,L) Breakfast at hotel. Full day Excursion to the pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mycerinus which is one of the old seven wonders of the world, the great Sphinx of Giza which dates from the time of Chephren (2620BC) continue to Abu Rawash, this is the site of the most northerly pyramid in Egypt, Djedefre's Pyramid (Starry Sky) This is a mud brick structure built in the easternmost hills promontory; a Necropolis dating from Dynasty 1 to Dynasty V is situated 1.5km the north east of Djedefre's Pyramid.

Day 5  15 February, 2009    Cairo  (B,L)  Breakfast at hotel. Morning tour to visit the Egyptian Museum the most important depository of Egyptian Antiquities anywhere in the World.  Afternoon at leisure to revisit the museum, visit the markets or relax at your hotel.

Day 06  16 February, 2009  Cairo - Luxor  (B,D)  After breakfast ransfer to the airport to board your flight to Luxor. Upon arrival we will be met and transferred to hotel for one night before boarding our cruise ship tomorrow.  Sail on the Nile by Felucca around Kitchener’s island.  Overnight Old Winter Palace Luxor (Nile View rooms) - or similar

Click to enlargeDay 07  17 February, 2009 Luxor  - Nile cruise (B,L,D)  We board our cruise ship before lunch and have lunch on board. Visit The Temple of Karnak & the Temple of Luxor. Afternoon tea. Dinner on board & Belly Dance show. Overnight in Luxor.   Alexander The Great is more than just a cruise it is a luxurious Yacht that is both elegant and sophisticated. During your stay on the Alexander The Great breakfast, lunch and dinner is included. Breakfast. Visit The West Bank – the Valley of the Kings, Valley of The Queens and The Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at El Deir El Bahari. Lunch on board. Sail to Esna. Afternoon Tea.  Overnight in Edfu.

Day 09  19 February, 2009   Nile cruise (B,L,D)
Breakfast on board. Visit the temple of Horus in Edfu. Sail to Kom Ombo. Lunch on board. Visit the Temple shared by the two Gods Sobek & Haroeies in Kom Ombo. Afternoon Tea. Dinner on board & Galabeya party Overnight in Kom Ombo.

  
Day 10  20 February, 2009  Nile cruise (B,L,D)  Breakfast on board. Sail to Aswan. Visit the High Dam, the Granite Quarries & The Temple of Philae Lunch on board. Sail on the Nile by felucca around Kitchener’s island and Elephantine. Afternoon Tea. Dinner and overnight on board in Aswan.

Day 11  21 February, 2009 
 Check out after breakfast and depart to Abu Simbel by air, Visit the temples of Ramses & Nefertary. Air ticket Aswan/Abu Simbel/Aswan is included.  Retur back to Aswan and check into hotel.  Remainder of day at leisure.   Accommodation:  Movenpick Aswan (or similar)   A perfect place to relax in some of the most beautiful natural surroundings in Egypt. The Resort is set on an island in the middle of the River Nile in one of the most enchanting natural locations.

Day 12  22 February, 2009  (B, D)  Afternoon flight to Amman. Day 13  23 February, 2009  (B,D)  Amman city tour   Start your tour Visiting the old parts of the city “Roman amphitheater” dated back to 2nd century A.D., Citadel hill and the archeological Museum, continue through modern city and visit King Hussein mosque , back to Hotel for overnight.

Day 14   24 February, 2009   Full day Pella, Umm Qeis,    (B,D)   Pella, a Graeco – Roman city, named for the birth place of Alexander the great. Then drive to the Decapolis city of umm Qeis – Gadara of bible 1, 700 above sea level, the view from there reveals to the North lake Tiberias, the Yarmouk river and the Golan Heights .

Day 15   25 February, 2009  Full day Dead Sea  (B,D)  After breakfast we drive to the lowest spot on the earth's surface - the “Dead Sea” 1,306 feet below sea level. Time for a lunch (own expense) and a swim before we visit the baptismal site of Jesus. This unique site is where 2000 years ago Jesus came to see John to be baptized by him: Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him (Matthew 3:13). According to the Bible, it is just beyond the Jordan (John 3:26) i.e. on the East Bank of the River Jordan in what is now the modern day Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The Bible says clearly: These things were done in Bethabara beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing (John 1:28).   Because this site marks the baptism of Jesus by John, and thus the beginning of Jesus's mission and indeed the beginning of Christianity it is considered to be one of the three holiest Christian sites in the world. Drive back to Amman for overnight

Day 16  26 February, 2009    Full day Jerash, Ajlun  (B,D)  You will be driven North to visit Jerash which was known as the city of a 1,000 pillars , where you will see the Triple arched gate, the huge hippodrome, the only roman Forum surrounded by 65 ionic columns. 20 minutes West of Jerash is  Ajlun where the imposing Arab Castle of Qalat Al Rabad, built in defense against the crusaders. Drive back to you Hotel for overnight.

Day 17  27 February, 2009    Full day, Madaba, Mt. Nebo, Kerak, Petra  (B, D)   Southward along the King's Highway one of the oldest trade routes in the world which runs 200 miles along Jordan’s hilly backbone, you will stop at the Byzantine church or Mt. Nebo, and then proceed to Madaba where you will see a unique map of Palestine, you will visit the great crusader castle of Kerak and continue to Petra for overnight.   Accommodation:  Marriott Petra (or similar) 2 nights   The Petra Marriot with its impressive views is 1,400 meters above sea level situated on the mountains edge and is a haven of peace and tranquility. The hotel is built with three adjoining wings on separate levels and offers spacious, tastefully decorated, comfortable rooms most of which have good views over the Great Rift Valley. All rooms have wireless internet access and Satellite television. The hotel has two restaurants, L’Affresco Italian Restaurant and Sushara serving International and Middle Eastern specialties. Day 18  28 February, 2009  Full day Petra visit   (B, D)     You will start your day driven to the lost city Petra.  Upon arrival you will take a horse back ride thought the Siq, the only access to this city carved out of the rose colored rock. Petra  overnight     

Day 19  01 Mar, 2009  Petra - Wadi Rum  -  Amman (B, D)    Depart Petra to the land of the moon for visit, which was known as “Lawrence of Arabia land” and you will enjoy a safari and explore the desert for two hours by 4WD. Drive back to Amman for overnight.  Accommodation:  Marriott Amman (or similar) 

Day 20  02 Mar, 2009  Amman - Australia    (B)    Morning at leisure before our afternoon transfer to the airport and flight home
