QDay 2  20 October, 2010   Boston  (B)   Sightseeing focuses on the city's most prominent landmarks, such as the historic sites near Boston Common, including the Old State House, Old North Church, from where Paul Revere got the signal to start his famous ride, and Faneuil Hall, with an opportunity to browse through Quincy Market. Balance of the day at leisure.   Famous for everything from the Red Sox and Paul Revere to Cheers and clam "chowdah," Boston is a popular destination for so many reasons. Part history lesson, part modern metropolis, the Hub offers attractions to suit every taste and interest. Plus, it's incredibly easy to get around, either on foot or by the user-friendly public transportation system, called the T. Hop on the Freedom Trail, a well-preserved pedestrian path that weaves in and out of historic neighbourhoods, from the lively Boston Common and Public Garden to the gold-domed State House and Fenway Park. Between landmarks, you can shop the fabulous stores on Newbury Street, have a delicious authentic Italian meal in the North End or browse the antique shops and distinctive red-brick buildings of Beacon Hill. Day 3  21 October, 2010  Boston - Quebec City  (B)   Journey north through New Hampshire, passing the state's capital dome at Concord and continuing to the majestic beauty of Franconia Notch State Park in the scenic White Mountains. Capture inspiring views of one of nature's true masterpieces as the grandeur of mountain scenery blends to a green carpet panorama in northern Vermont, which is blessed with innumerable forests and lakes. Enter the French-Canadian province of Quebec. The next two nights are in romantic Quebec City on the banks of the mighty St. Lawrence River. Until the British victory of 1759, Old Quebec was the centre of New France, and today is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.   Accommodation:  Auberge Place d’Armes (or similar) Quebec City 2 nights   Auberge Place d'Armes is located on Sainte-Anne, one of the most typical and colourful streets of Old Quebec, near the historical Place d'Armes, Chateau Frontenac, and Dufferin Terrace Boardwalk. Day 4  22 October, 2010   Quebec City  (B)  Start the day with an included tour by a Local Guide of Canada's only walled city, including the Place d'Armes, ancient Place Royale, and the Plains of Abraham. The balance of the day is free for independent sightseeing.     Gracious Quebec City is perched on the banks of the St. Lawrence, 150 miles east of Montreal. The only fortified city north of Mexico celebrated its 400th anniversary in 2008. Visitors can happily meander the Old City on foot. Browse shops along rue Saint-Louis, rue Saint-Jean, Artists' Alley and le Petite Champlain, the oldest shopping street in North America. Tour the Citadelle and see the Canadian troops stage military ceremonies. Admire the gables and turrets of the grand Chateau Frontenac

Day 5  23 October, 2010   Quebec City - Montreal (B)  Travel southwest to Montreal, Canada's second-largest city. Sightseeing with a Local Guide includes Notre Dame Basilica, the Old Seminary of St. Sulpice, and a drive to the top of Mount Royal to enjoy a panorama of the city. Afternoon is at leisure. Perhaps stroll through the underground shopping area of Place Ville-Marie or visit historic Old Montreal.   Accommodation: Hotel de la Montagne (or similar) Montreal 1 night     Located in downtown Montréal, Hotel de la Montagne is within three blocks of the Museum of Fine Arts, Bell Centre, and the Underground City. Day 7  25 October, 2010  Ottawa - Toronto (B)  This morning, visit the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Stables to learn the Mounties' history of ensuring peace, safety, and security. Afterward, sit back and relax as you journey through Ontario's cities to Toronto, the cosmopolitan provincial capital.  Accommodation: Courtyard by Marriott Downtown (or similar) Toronto 2 nights

Day 8  26 October, 2010  Toronto  (B)  On today's sightseeing, view Toronto's two city halls, the legislature buildings, the university, and some neighbourhoods, including Chinatown. The balance of the day is free, and your Tour Director will have plenty of suggestions for things to do and see in Canada's largest city.  
One of Canada's best kept secrets, Toronto is on par with New York City, San Francisco and Chicago when it comes to cultural attractions and urban endeavours. The best place to start is at the top, and in this city there's no mistaking where that is. The landmark CN Tower is the tallest structure in the world and also an important telecommunications hub. Take the elevator to the top for a breathtaking view of the city and its surrounding areas. Right next door at the Sky Dome you can catch a Blue Jays game or just walk around the massive stadium. Check out the Royal Ontario Museum, the largest in Canada with fascinating archaeology and natural history exhibits, and the Art Gallery of Ontario, with a fine collection of European and Canadian works. Don't miss the funky stores and ethnic restaurants on Queen Street West or the elegant boutiques and fine eateries of Yorkville. Also head down to Harbour front, a complex of unique shops and restaurants right on beautiful Lake Ontario. From Harbour front you can hop on a ferry to the Toronto Islands for a picnic and outdoor recreation. Toronto is an especially great destination for families as most attractions are child-friendly. Plus, it is an incredibly clean, safe and easy city to get around either on foot or by public transportation

Day 9 27 October, 2010  Toronto - Niagara Falls  (B)  Drive around the "Golden Horseshoe" of Lake Ontario and through vineyards and rich farmlands. Then, board the Maid of the Mist for a thrilling boat ride to view the thundering falls from river level. You may opt to take the optional helicopter flight over the falls.  (B) Note: The operation of the Maid of the Mist cruise is subject to favourable weather and/or river conditions. Day 10  28 October, 2010   Niagara Falls - Lancaster  (B, D) 
Cross the border at Rainbow Bridge and enter New York State. Then, journey into Pennsylvania through the rolling Appalachian Mountains and on to Lancaster, home of the religious Amish and Mennonite communities whose faiths stress humility, family, community, simple living and separation from the world. Tonight, enjoy a traditional Amish feast and get an intimate view of growing up Amish. Day 11  29 October, 2010  Lancaster - Washington DC  (B)  Visit an Amish farm and house, where a Local Guide explains this faith, culture, and traditional way of life, which excludes the use of modern conveniences such as electricity and telephones. Then, depart for Washington DC, the nation's capital. Free time this afternoon. Day 12  30 October, 2010  Washington DC (B)   Your half-day guided tour features Arlington National Cemetery with the Kennedy Gravesites and Vietnam, Korean and WW2 memorials,  as well as many other well-known sites. Also stop for photos at the White House and Capitol Hill. An afternoon at leisure to do as you wish. Be sure to visit the many museums of the Smithsonian Institution and the glorious Basilica of the Immaculate Conception or the Washington National Cathedral.    From its iconic monuments and buildings to its historic neighbourhoods and free museums, the capital of the United States offers so many interesting attractions, it's hard to know where to begin. Consider a tour of the White House Visitor's Centre, a wealth of information about one of the most powerful symbols of American history and politics.  D.C. is especially known for its museums. From the Holocaust to the history of space exploration and from dinosaurs to international spies, there is a museum for almost every area of interest, with many offering free admission. Great shopping, restaurants and Colonial architecture can be found in Georgetown. And The Mall, a slice of greenery in the centre of town surrounded by the buildings of the Smithsonian, is the perfect place to grab a hot dog, relax and take in the sights and sounds of this lively and influential city

Day 13  31 October, 2010  Washington - Philadelphia - New York City (B)  Travel north this morning to Philadelphia for included sightseeing focusing on the important buildings of this historic city, the birthplace of the nation. Visit major attractions, including the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. Continue north into New Jersey and then check into our hotel. Evening free. (B)   Accommodation: Chandler Hotel (or similar)  New York 2 nights    The Hotel Chandler is located in New York, N.Y., in the Murray Hill neighbourhood of Midtown Manhattan. The Empire State Building and Macy's are two blocks from the hotel. Madison Square Garden is three blocks from the hotel. Day 15  02 November, 2010   New York  The holiday ends today with guests departing on individual schedules. Those people who are continuing on our Crystal cruise to Los Angeles will be transferred to the ship later this morning.
